About The Photographer

Hi! My name is Erika Blackwell and I am the photographer of Center of Attention Photography. My business is located in Northern Michigan. My blog is a way for everyone to view some of my favorite images from recent sessions and get to know me! I am the VERY proud mommy to Braylan. I LOVE what I do and I hope you can tell! These are not JUST pictures I take. I create memories... My heart and soul go into my work. I care about my clients and get to know them and learn what they like and dislike. I am an artist. A business woman. I love to have fun. I love to sing. Dance. Make crazy sounds to get those smiles. I am very open! I LOVE oreos and soymilk. I dream big. I have tons of ideas. I cry during touching ceremonies and awesome reception speeches. I try not to be messy but it happens. I have so many new faces to meet this year and just thinking about it makes me excited! coaphoto.com 231.549.2038

So excited! My family, friends, facebook fans and people I’ve never met polled together and helped me win the 2013 Castle Farms Cover Photo Contest!! This image will be on the cover of the 2013 edition of the Wedding Planner (given to every Bride that reserves at Castle Farms) and the 2013 Grand Bridal Expo program. Yay!! Thank you times a million for every single person that voted, reposted and told their friends. I had a view people that really went above and beyond for me and it touches my heart more than they will ever know.

A sneak peek of this beautiful wedding. I can’t wait to blog more!

it’s all in the details….

This was one of the best years by far for awesome details at weddings. I know a couple brides used pinterest for some ideas… I really wish that site existed when I was planning my wedding!

WEDDING: Kaela and Michael

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

Kaela and Michael were married at the Catholic Church in Harbor Springs. It was so beautiful!
As you may notice the church was full of their friends and family. So many people came to celebrate this marriage. It was a super hot day in June… but you can’t even tell. I always look to see if the groom (who is fully dressed) looks hot. NOPE! He champed it!

On another note. These guests/wedding party can DANCE! I was laughing so hard at some of Michael’s football teammates moves. It was soooo fun! We were standing on chairs trying to get everyone as the busted a move.

WEDDING: Ashley and Tyler

Thursday, December 20th, 2012

The first time I talked to the brides mom on the phone before I knew it an hour had passed without even knowing it. What I did know was I was going to love this wedding without kmowing one person attending. From the minute I walked into the room where the bride and her girls were getting ready I had a smile on my face… it didn’t leave until I left. The people, decor, the dancing, touching speeches, smiles, laughs and cries. You will see in the super long blog post how awesome it was! Ashley and Tyler are the perfect match. They really enjoy being together and I could tell totally tell from the time I spent with them.

Location: Boyne Mountain Beach House

WEDDING: Keisha+Adam

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

I was looking through my blog at my wedding posts and realized I didn’t update 2010 weddings. My New Year’s resolution is to stay on top of the blog way better so I’m going to just keep on going so I catch up.

I remember this wedding very clearly. It was my first summer wedding while being pregnant in 2010 and I was still in sick/tired mode. I take my profession super serious and did not let it effect me on the day. The only thing that got me was watching them zipline. :) The motion and trying to focus… standing on a hill while looking up. This wedding party was the first to do the zipline at Boyne Mountain. Keisha is awesome at planning/details/decorating and when I walked into her reception and saw the decor I was like, YES! I could have made this blog post way longer but I have read that a viewer loses interest after 30 seconds of looking at photos of someone they don’t know. True or false?? Leave me a message and tell me if you did. (I hope you didn’t but be honost!)
