About The Photographer

Hi! My name is Erika Blackwell and I am the photographer of Center of Attention Photography. My business is located in Northern Michigan. My blog is a way for everyone to view some of my favorite images from recent sessions and get to know me! I am the VERY proud mommy to Braylan and Grayson. I LOVE what I do and I hope you can tell! These are not JUST pictures I take. I create memories... My heart and soul go into my work. I care about my clients and get to know them and learn what they like and dislike. I am a mommy & artist. I care about the ones I love like crazy, I love to have fun. I make crazy sounds to get those smiles. I dream big. I have tons of ideas. I cry during touching ceremonies and awesome reception speeches. I can usually be found smiling. I get inspired very easily. coaphoto.com 231.549.2038

Brittany+Eric

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

This is one of my best friend’s Britt and her husband Eric. On August 24th I stood up as a bridesmaid and partially photographed their wedding. I had a lot of help from my sister and a few others who attended the wedding (friends) that also grabbed a camera for some candids. I will do a full blog post on all the 2012 and 2013 weddings I photographed but I really wanted to share this one right now. I have 7 weeks until our new little guy is here and as always I play catch up. Super happy with how busy I have been over the last couple years and it will be nice if I can get to a point in my business to take a real break from work to spend time with my family.

You will notice the collage at the end if from their first look. I have to say it couldn’t have gone better and if you are thinking about doing first look also… I say DO IT! It saves time after the ceremony, relaxes nerves and is just simply fun. If you visit Castle Farms blog you will see a post I just was a part of about first looks.

Elleana: Snow White Themed Shoot

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

As a little girl I wanted to be a Disney princess and my niece Elleana is no different. I had a last minute idea when my mom showed me a dress she got for her. Just out in my sisters yard we did a quick 20 minute shoot and it’s my favorite to date! She loved playing Snow White… I can’t believe she is 4 years old. My son Braylan followed her around and told her he was taking her pictures and to say cheese. Thank goodness she didn’t… oh the word cheese it makes me cringe. His toy camera taught him that! Darn thing. I have a theme just for Braylan coming soon and I can’t wait!

Baby #2!

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

We are very excited we are expecting another little boy! Braylan took some warming up and a couple weeks after finding out but he is very happy now too. :)

I also have a very limited number of session dates left in Sept. before I start my maternity leave. I will not be taking sessions in Oct. to finish up my Sept and Oct. weddings before our little guy gets here in Nov.

A few more!

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

This past weekend I had my Christmas Mini Event which went amazing! I had a lot of my current clients and even a couple new faces.
At the end of day 2 I had my mom come over and take a few of my own family. My son really likes to be a little stinker when the camera comes out! The top pic is us trying to get him to smile.

I am trying to get all my sessions and weddings edited so I can take a small vacation during Christmas. Wish me luck!

A little catch up… yes please!

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

I’ve been so excited about a themed shoot I planned. My take on Alice in Wonderland…. Thanks to Danielle amd Carissa for helping and freezing their little model booty’s off! It was 33 degrees! I have more to share soon.

Also some other shoots from fall!

What have I been up to?

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

So I have been on the computer working or shooting everyday of my life. I told myself to not get so booked that I become stressed but heck… I’m a worker.
My new studio is OPEN. I spent so much time making it shine. I have a wedding show I’m preparing for. I have a handful of weddings left to shoot. Sessions like crazy.
These fall colors around Northern Michihan are beautiful! Here’s a few sneak peaks I have a million more but I have to start somewhere. :)

Side note. Both me and my son have been sick with a virus+allergies so if I don’t respond right away I’m a little backed up in the email dept. I’m trying my best to catch back up, get sneak peeks up, and blog! I’m also working on some side projects.

A couple sneak peeks for tonight…
