About The Photographer

Hi! My name is Erika Blackwell and I am the photographer of Center of Attention Photography. My business is located in Northern Michigan. My blog is a way for everyone to view some of my favorite images from recent sessions and get to know me! I am the VERY proud mommy to Braylan and Grayson. I LOVE what I do and I hope you can tell! These are not JUST pictures I take. I create memories... My heart and soul go into my work. I care about my clients and get to know them and learn what they like and dislike. I am a mommy & artist. I care about the ones I love like crazy, I love to have fun. I make crazy sounds to get those smiles. I dream big. I have tons of ideas. I cry during touching ceremonies and awesome reception speeches. I can usually be found smiling. I get inspired very easily. coaphoto.com 231.549.2038

FAMILY: Polleys

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013

I’ve been taking pictures of this family for a few years. We had so much fun on a hot summer day at Mt McSauba in Charlevoix. It was the first time I had ever been to this location and went back a couple time after I loved it so much!

Busy week!

What a super busy last week of shooting. I am now only editing and designing until my boy gets here. So much to catch up on and get ready! It was a super beautiful week and the colors couldn’t have been better.

Elleana: Snow White Themed Shoot

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

As a little girl I wanted to be a Disney princess and my niece Elleana is no different. I had a last minute idea when my mom showed me a dress she got for her. Just out in my sisters yard we did a quick 20 minute shoot and it’s my favorite to date! She loved playing Snow White… I can’t believe she is 4 years old. My son Braylan followed her around and told her he was taking her pictures and to say cheese. Thank goodness she didn’t… oh the word cheese it makes me cringe. His toy camera taught him that! Darn thing. I have a theme just for Braylan coming soon and I can’t wait!

Mini Session ?’s and FAQ:

How long do mini sessions last?

Each mini session is 20 minutes long. There will be other sessions booked in the time slots around your session… so each session is timed.

Is there a limit to the number of people that can be included in the session?

Mini-sessions are limited to immediate families of 6 or smaller. If you have a larger family, I recommend you book a full session. $10 will be added for each person over 6.

How do we reserve our session?

Sessions are booked on a first come, first serve basis. All bookings do require a $50 retainer to hold your spot. You can pay via check, cash or paypal.

What should we wear to the Mini Session?

Bright colors look great! They provide visual interest and make your portraits “pop”! Try to avoid graphic prints and being to matchy. Only 1 outfit will be allowed for mini sessions due to the time restraints.

When will our online gallery be available and how do we get our CD?

2 weeks after your session your online gallery will be loaded. They gallery will be up for 7 days to make your choice.
CD’s can be picked up at the studio or you can pay $5 to have it shipped. There will be on option for your choice in the cart.

Can we purchase more images on our CD?

Yes! 10 images with the package price will be included… each additional image if desired can be purchased afterward for $10 each. Each mini session is different and the number of ending images will also depend. The number will not go over 15 to choose from.

updates!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

This is a little update post. We have had so many virus’ this winter! We almost get better and one of us wake up with something again. Hopefully this time we kick it for good. I have lots of updates and fun ideas to come!

In this post I have two little newborn boys. A lifestyle session at one my clients home. PLUS my bestfriends little guys. I love balloons lately. I saw this quote recently, “Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero.” ~Marc Brown It sparked the idea for their little superhero picture.

my cupid

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

I’ve been on a good role taking pictures of my little man this winter. I’m a little proud of myself. Last year he hated my camera so I would give up for periods of time. Today my sister and neice had an “ice day” from school so before my husband went to work we dropped by the studio. I’ve had this idea since last Valentine’s day. I had the kissing booth last year… this year I thought we would keep it clean and cute. Tomorrow I will post Elleana’s take. :)

SNOW!

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

I used to LOVE playing outside in the snow when I was a kid. We would go skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, build forts, pull eachother on sleds around our little town… Now I hate being cold. My son doesn’t like to get snow on him or like sledding. I feel like I am such a downer on winter. I actually never used to do outside sessions in the winter because I’m a wimp. This year I decided we live in such a beautiful place and I am wasting amazing photo opportunities. Yesterday it was 20° and I did 2 outside snow boudoirs (such brave awesome girls) and today it was 27° and had this amazing family. I have so many more pictures I want to post but they must wait until I play catch up. Here is a sneak peek of some fun.
